Lester was a farmer for a living and served on the School District board. He loved square dancing and fishing. He also loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in the youth organizations, Elders Quorum presidency, as a counselor in a bishopric, financial clerk, in the High Priests group leadership, and as a temple officiator for seventeen years.
He is survived by a daughter Barbara (Kent) Christensen, Ogden, Utah; and a daughter-in-law Carol Austin, Hyrum, Utah; a brother Merlin Austin, Preston, Idaho; a sister Velda (Gale) Baird, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Blaine Austin; a grandson, Cody Austin; brothers, Melvin William and Royal Austin and a sister, Veda.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lewiston 4th ward Chapel, 16 South Main, with Bishop Mark Bergeson conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. also at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Care Hospice center and give a special thanks to Amy, Nick, Peggy, and Royella.
