Lawrence F. Metzroth, 59, of 3075 Winch Road was found dead in the parking lot at White Oaks Mall at 2:50 p.m. Thursday.
He was born in Springfield, a son of Frank and Irene Ostenburg Metzroth.
He served for 11 years on the Sangamon County Board and was a former Springfield Township supervisor.
He owned Larry's Potted Plants and formerly owned Larry's Northside Flower Shop.
He was a graduate of Lanphier High School and an Air Force veteran of World Wat II.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jan Metzroth, who died Aug. 16, 1980.
Surviving are his wife, June (Winch); a son, Lawrence Jr., of Springfield; four daughters, Mrs. William (Sue) Bruce and Mrs. Randy (Debbie) Booth, both of Springfield; Mrs. Dick ( Karen) Little, of DesPlaines; and Mrs. Rick (Julie) Baker, of Olney; five grandsons; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
