SMITHLAND — Cecil Long, age 92, of Smithland, a kind and gentle man, passed away at 7 p.m. February 6, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Long was the oldest member of Paradise Methodist Church, and was retired from National Carbide of Calvert City. He was a lifelong farmer and was noted for his love of horses, family and friends. His love for God and for gospel music was known by most that knew him.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Long of Smithland and Harry Long of Salem; and one daughter, Aleta Faye Gaines of Smithland; as well as a very special lady, Anna Pearl Campbell of Smithland, and her family. His grandchildren are Mark Long, Tara Lee Cosby, Christy Campbell and Roxane Bridges, all of Smithland. He also leaves behind seven great- grandchildren and a large community of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Louise Long; one daughter, Norma Louise, and one son, Ronnie Dale Long.
Services will be Thursday, February 9th, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland, officiated by Dr. Dwayne Driskill. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery.
