Brief excerpts from his death notices and obituary in the Burlington newspapers: Ward Eldred died at his home immediately after eating his supper, falling over dead in his chair. He had been in his usual health up to that time and his death was without warning. It was later determined that he died of heart disease when with a cry he placed his hands to his heart and fell to the floor dead.
