Sarah Blanton
MOUNT HOLLY - Mrs. Sarah P. Blanton, 81, of 217 Tomberlin Road, formerly of Shelby, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 18, 1923, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late June Pearson and Eunie Weaver Pearson. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Blanton; and a great-grandson, Dalton Pearce Hill.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Ray Blanton of Mount Holly; a daughter, Barbara B. Oates and husband, Roubert Sr., of Mount Holly; two sisters Selma Blanton and husband Ralph, of Shelby and Louise Mull and husband, Frank, of Belmont; six grandchildren, Kevin Blanton, Shannon Blanton, Angela Blanton, Danyel Oates, Kenna Moore and Robert Oates, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy Blanton, Brittany Blanton, Devon Blanton, Drew Blanton, Brett Oates, Cody Moore and Logan Moore.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Sessom officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 7:30 and at other times at the home.
