From Greenville newspaper in 1947:
T. Burton Minnis, 88, a farmer located for many years on the Conneaut Lake Road just beyond the Mercer County line in Crawford County, died at 5 o’clock this morning, March 28, 1947, in the Greenville Hospital.
The last survivor among 11 sons and daughters of Asher and Elizabeth Newbold Minnis, he was born August 1, 1858, in Sandy Creek Township. On January 10, 1889, he married Lillian Allen, who preceded him in death, November 12, 1944. (Lillian was 83 when she died. They had been married 55 years, but had no children.) He was a member of the Adamsville Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and by Two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Electa Catherine (McKenzie) Minnis, and Mrs. Rebecca (Roberts) Minnis, both of Sheakleyville, and widows respectively of Harry and Elmer Minnis.
Mr. Minnis was removed to the Baird Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Reverend R. D. Hays, of Adamsville, at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, with interment following in Stevenson Cemetery.
Just an interesting fact: “Uncle Burt” purchased a Fort Model T, 4-door sedan, brand new in May of 1927 for $622.00. Five years later he still owned the car and purchased property damage ($5,000) and personal liability insurance ($5,000 and $10,000) for a grand total of $18.50. The original price of the car in 2017 dollars is equivalent to $8,484 (adjusted for inflation).
