Lyle Paetznick, 83, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, January 19, 2007 at First Lutheran Church, Middle River, MN, with Reverend Curtis Matz officiating. Burial will be in the German Evangelical Cemetery, rural Middle River, MN.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2007 at First Lutheran Church, Middle River, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service on Friday.

Lyle Gustav Paetznick was born September 4, 1923 on the Family Farm in Cedar Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of William and Mary E. (Hall) Paetznick. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN and attended Koepp Country School, rural Middle River. Lyle was united in marriage to Arlouene Chappel on November 10, 1946 at her parent's farm, rural Newfolden. Lyle farmed in the communities of Middle River, Holt, and Newfolden, before returning to Middle River in 1952. From that time on, he raised small grain and beef cattle.

He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, playing cards, working in his shop and spending time with his family. Each fall for the past 25 years their farm has become a home to several deer hunting parties. These hunters have become like members of the family. Several of these hunters will be casketbearers for Lyle.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Middle River.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlo Paetznick of Middle River, MN; three children: Gula Stromgren of Strandquist, MN, Catherine (Victor) Kaml of Greenbush, MN and Lyla (Miles) Smith of Middle River, MN; seven grandchildren: Colleen (Eric) Kukowski, Mary (Dana) Olson, Scott Kaml, Victor L. Kaml, Melissa (Sam) Penas, Jessica Smith and Richard Smith; five great grandchildren: Jazemen, Christina, Savanah, and Johnathon Kukowski and Brady Olson; one brother, William "Bill" (Gladys) Paetznick of Blaine, MN; one sister, Evelyn Severts of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leslie Paetznick; one sister, Florence Rude; son-in-law, Reuben Stromgren and one sister, in infancy.
