Robert G. "Bob" Harrison, 76, of Downingtown, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester, with his family at his side.
He was the loving husband of the late Amelia C. DiGiovantonio Harrison, with whom he had shared 56 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2008.
Born in Limestone, Tenn., he was the son of the late Carson N. and Helen M. Bailey Harrison.
A graduate of West Chester High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of sergeant.
He was employed as a building and grounds supervisor for Pepperidge Farm for 36½ years.
Mr. Harrison was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown.
He was also a member of St. Anthony's Lodge in Downingtown, the Amphibious Order of Frogs, as well as a member of the Low Price Spread Hunting Camp.
He was an avid golfer, playing in leagues and tournaments throughout the county.
He loved his family, and especially his grandson, Bob.
He is survived by his son, Rob Harrison and his wife, Barbara, of Sinking Spring; grandson, Bob III and his wife, Katie, of Reading; brother, Thomas M. and his wife, Barbara, of Millsboro, Del.; and sister, Betty Jo McGown and her husband, Joe, of Phoenixville.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown.
Family and friends may call at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, on Monday, Jan. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
