Clara Adams Tew, 78, of Columbus, Ga., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Johnny Snellgrove, Roy White and Jimmy Rex Campbell Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Tew was born March 5, 1930, in Geneva County, daughter of the late Pitt Adams and Amanda Wetherington Adams. Mrs. Tew retired after 33 years as a lab technician with The Bibb Company and was a member of the American Business Womens Association a Cub Scout den leader and attended North Highland and Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Clinton Adams and Clarence Adams.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Glen E. Tew of Columbus, Ga.; two sons, Rickey Edward Tew and wife, Cherry of Rome, Ga., and Randall Carl Tew and wife, Debbie of Cataula, Ga.; two sisters, Connie Merritt and husband, Wayne of Columbus, Ga., and Carol Campbell of LaGrange, Ga., five grandchildren, Tiffany Lynn Tew-Anderson of Rome, Ga., Richard Glen Tew of Rome, Ga., Jacob Randall Tew of Seattle, Wash., Harrison James Tew of Cataula, Ga., and Regan Glen Tew of Cataula, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Reed Anderson and Clara Belle Anderson, both of Rome, Ga.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make contributions to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, Ga. 31909.
