Phyllis Marcile Gregory Ferguson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on January 12, 2009 at her home in St. George, Utah.

Phyllis was born on October 1, 1927 in Murray, Utah to Henry Asabell and Evelyn Hofeling Gregory.

She married Shirley LuVerne "Vern" Ferguson on September 10, 1979 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.

Phyllis lived for many years in Sandy, Utah, where she raised her family from a previous marriage. In 1981, Vern and Phyllis moved to St. George where she enjoyed golfing, traveling and gardening. She especially loved roses. Phyllis always planted rose bushes wherever she lived.

She was a darn good golfer having a low handicap. She loved doing extraction work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Genealogical Society. Phyllis did extraction work for many years until her health failed.

She is survived by her husband, S.L. Ferguson; four sons, Jerry (Linda) Sweeney, Daniel Sweeney, David Sweeney, Bill (Joan) Ferguson; three daughters, Jeannine (Orval) Draney, Sharon (Steve) Knighton, Janice Falen; 35 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leon Gregory, David Gregory; four sisters, Lois Pearson, Afton (Dale) Hand, Carol Worthen, and Norma Whitlach. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Evelyn Gregory; one brother, Eugene Gregory; and two daughters, Marcile Patton and Karen (Al) Trevino. Phyllis will be sorely missed by all. We love you!

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services, both at the Mortuary.
