Willie "Wilma" Treadway, 99, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, in Estes Park, Colo., with her devoted daughter, Mary, by her side.

A service in her memory will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, with her nephew, Mel Doughty, officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Lawn Mausoleum.

She was born Willie Vashti Doughty on April 13, 1909, in Paris, to Sallie Ballard Doughty and Robert Doughty. She had two brothers, Robert and Samuel Doughty and four sisters, Mattie Hunt Hayes, Rachel Davis, Joanna Highfill and Mildred Jones.

She moved to Michigan in the '30s, where she met and married Horace Treadway in 1938. They had three daughters, Laura, Mary and Sally. She was blessed with three grandsons, Michael, Jeff and Jonny and one granddaughter, Nancy; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, Jackson, Riley and Madi.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was a wonderful cook (we'll never forget her rhubarb cobbler). She was an excellent seamstress and made everything from snowsuits to pajamas. Her love and talent for music gave her joy, especially playing hymns on the piano and singing. Her faith in God was strong and she was very active in the Baptist church over the years.

We will miss her. We will remember how much she loved us — always and unconditionally. We will remember her keen sense of humor and how she made us laugh. We will remember how strong she was in so many ways. We will remember how good-hearted and generous she was to her family and friends — the family of Willie Treadway.

Survived by: daughters, Laura Treadway, Mary Lane and Sally Zytkowski; sister, Mildred Jones; grandchildren, Jeff Lane, Jonny Lane and Nancy Williams; great-grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Samantha Lane, Jackson Lane, Riley Lane and Madi Lane; nieces, Willie B. Clary, Lucinda Dotson, Norene Surratt, Robbie McGinty, Jean Manning, Dorothy Melton and Barbara Jo Davis; nephews, Bob Highfill and Mel Doughty.
