MARY WILLIAMS BARBER passed away January 22, 2011 at the age of 102. She was born July 27, 1908 in Columbia County on a farm north of Fort White to Charlie and Jessie Williams.

Mary married Talmadge Barber at the age of 17 and they resided in High Springs. Mary worked as manager of the Priest Theatre in High Springs for 13 years.

Mary owned a jewelry store and later she and her husband owned Barber's Restaurant on 441 for 28 years. After Talmadge passed away, she moved to Gainesville to live with her sister, Betty Kinchen.

Her goal was to live to be 100 and she exceeded that goal. She loved celebrating each birthday surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Kinchen and a nephew; Leighton Barber, High Springs, nieces; Carolyn Water, High Springs and Diane Sutter, Middleburg, and many others nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Jessie Williams, her husband. Talmadge Barber, her brother, Arrie Williams and brother-in-law, Ira Kinchen.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers for their loving care provided over the past 2 1/2 years, Linda Frazier, Carmen Belle, Natherine Benjamin, Kathy Thomas and Candice Wolf.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. Monday at Evans - Carter Funeral Home in High Springs (386) 454-2444 with Rev. Norris Beck will officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior (2:30 P.M.) at the funeral home. Interment will be in the High Springs Cemetery.
