Mr. Earl W. Carter, 55, a life long resident of Lake City, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at Haven Hospice, Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his father, Helton O'dell Carter, brother, Melvin Carter and one sister, Carolyn Browning.
Mr. Carter is survived by his mother, Mildred Carter, Lake City; four brothers, Helton "Porky" Carter of Lake City, Fl; Gene Carter, Ocala, FL; Gerald "Pijoe" Carter, Winter Haven and Michael Carter, Ocala, FL; six sisters, DeLena Widener, Greensboro, NC; Charlotte Baldwin, Lake City, FL; Annette Spradley, Lake City; Alice Kinsey, Bell, FL; Cindy Carter, Lake City, FL and Evelyn Thomas, Lake City. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be conducted on January 12, 2009 at 2;00 p.m. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Spradley officiating Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5 P.M until 7 P.M. Sunday, January 11, 2009. at the funeral home.
