HARRY JAMES BLACK
Services for Harry James Black, 83, 225 Jade Street, Rock Springs, were conducted Oct. 5 at the Vase Funeral Chapel. Rev. K.E. Gustafson of the Church of the Holy Communion officiated.
Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
James Black, Denis Black, Ray Paul Black, Bill Miller, Dan August and Bob Flansburg served as pallbearers.
Mr. Black died Sept. 30 at the Kimberly Manor Nursing Home.
He was born in Byesville, Ohio, Nov. 4, 1897, the son of the late Peter James and Addie P. Thompson Black. He attended schools in Hopedale, Ohoi. He married Marie Anelli in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 1, 1930.
Mr. Black worked in the coal mines in Kemmerer, Wyo. and was the owner and operator of Hansen Floral in Rock Springs.
The Black family came to Rock Springs in 1936 and moved to Salt Lake in 1956. The family returned to Rock Springs in 1976.
He was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizen's Center and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 151.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Shirley Black, Rock Springs; a brother, Walter Blake, Hopedale, Ohio; three grandsons, James Black, Memphis, Tenn., Denis Black, Rock Springs, Ray Black, Worland, Wyo.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Dan (Lorraine) August, Worland; three great-grandchildren, Brian and Noresse Black, both of Rock Springs and Dabby August, Worland; two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, John.
