OBITUARY published in "Las Cruces Sun-News" on 8 Jan 2006 -- Marcelina "Marcy" Lara Otero, age 89, of Derry, left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father, Friday, January 6, 2006 at her home. She was born May 31, 1916 in Swartz, New Mexico to Jose C. and Diega Jimenez Lara. Mrs. Otero retired from the United Postal Service as a postmaster after thirty years of service in the Derry Post Office. She was an active member of San Isidro Catholic Church in Garfield and along with her husband the late Felix Otero, they owned and operated Otero Grocery Store in Derry for fifty years.

Survivors include three brothers, Raymond Lara, Pete Lara, Mike Norero; one sister, Virginia Chacon. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Felix Otero; three brothers, Genaro, Henry and Joe Lara; three sisters, Isabel Parra, Cecilia Abila and Carmen Ogaz.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Monday, January 9, 2006, interment will follow in the Garfield Cemetery with Reverend Virgilio Flores officiating.
