She was born March 10, 1906 in Swartz, Grant County, New Mexico to Jose C Lara and Diega Jimenez. On April 19, 1929 she married Salvador Parra and spent her working career at the Y-Nan Ranch in the lower Mimbres Valley, working alongside her husband until they moved to Deming in 1972 upon retiring. Isabel was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Abie Parra and his wife, Marilyn, of Deming and Salvador Parra, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Bayard; a daughter, Ruth Brito, and her husband, Alfonso, of Albuquerque; four brothers, Raymond Lara of Mesilla Park, Pete Lara of Las Cruces, Mike Norero of Albuquerque and Henry Lee Lara of Camarillo, Calif.; four sisters, Cecilia Avila of Las Cruces, Marcelina Otero of Derry, Carmen Ogaz of Garfield and Virginia Chacon of Faywood; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Salvador Parra, preceded her in death in 1977.
Calling hours began at 2 PM on January 17, 1995 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming and the prayer vigil was held there that evening at 7 PM.
The funeral liturgy was celebrated Tuesday (January 17, 1995) morning at 10 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 400 South Ruby Street, Deming, with the Rev. Al Galvan, pastor, wofficiatimg. The Rite of Committal follow at Mountain View Cemetery, where Mrs Parra was buried.
Pallbearers were Bobby and Steve Lara, John J. Chacon, Dickie and Edmund Ogaz and Steve Bencomo.
All of her grandchildren were honorary bearers.
