PASSING OF MRS. A. G. KILGORE
_______________
David City Woman Died on Tuesday,

March 12, in Raymond [1918]

Mrs. Annaline G. Kilgore, of David City, departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, at the home of her son Simon Kilgore, in Raymond. Mrs. Kilgore became sick in December and after three weeks' treatment in the David City hospital she became better and returned to her home. Three weeks ago she went to her son's home in Raymond and shortly after was taken ill. Death was due to kidney and heart trouble brought on by advanced age.

Remains of Mrs. Kilgore were brought to David City this [Thursday] morning and funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today in St. Luke's M.E. church. The pastor, Rev. J. F. Haas, conducted the services. W. J. Anderson, C. W. Bennison, E. K. Crow, R. D. Fuller, John Harper and J. H. Sleeger were pallbearers. The final resting place of Mrs. Kilgore's body was the David City cemetery.

Mrs. Kilgore lacked but four days of being 80 years of age. She was born March 16, 1838, in Lancaster county, Pa. Her maiden name was Miss Annaline Anderson. Of a family of six she was the last to pass on. A brother died last winter.

She was twice married, her first husband being David Thomas. Their marriage took place in 1857, in Pennsylvania. To them were born two children, both now living, E. A. Thomas of Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Mary E. Lister of Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. Thomas died February 9, 1863, and four years later Mrs. Thomas was married to William Kilgore. Of this union there are five children living, John Kilgore, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Simon Kilgore of Raymond, Mrs. Sadie Boyer and M.L. Kilgore of David City, and Harry Kilgore of Rising City. Mrs. Kilgore leaves 27 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The Kilgore family came to Butler county, Nebraska, in the fall of 1887 and lived for 22 years on a farm near Ware. They came here from Illinois where they had lived nine years. In 1909 Mr. and Mrs. Kilgore moved to David City and in 1914 Mr. Kilgore passed away.

Mrs. Kilgore not only professed a Christian faith but she also lived a Christian life. She had very pleasing manners and was admired by her many friends for her quiet, unassuming ways and her exemplary habits.

Mrs. Lister is the only one of Mrs. Kilgore's children who was not here to attend the funeral. E. A. Thomas and Mrs. Thomas were in Raymond a week before Mrs. Kilgore's death and came to David City Tuesday. The Amos Kilgore family from Ulysses were in attendance at the funeral, also several friends from Raymond.
