Gladys Smith, 96, of Jacksonville died Monday evening, October 8, 2007 at Prairie Village Health Care Center in Jacksonville. She was born January 10, 1911 in Flat Rock the daughter of Andrew and Mary Susan Pinkstaff Wampler. She married Louis G. Smith on January 18, 1942 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1980.
She is survived by one nephew, R.L. Guill of Herrin; 6 nieces and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Smith and her husband had lived in St. Louis and Los Angeles, where he worked for the United States Government prior to moving to Jacksonville. She had worked at the Jacksonville Developmental Center in the Recreation Department and was a member of the Central Christian Church.
Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
