Memorial services for longtime Oroville resident Ruth Lois Tatman Becker, 83, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Scheer Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Becker has been the curator and director of the Butte County Pioneer Memorial Museum for the past 15 years. She died Friday in an Oroville hospital.
"Mrs. Becker was born Dec 5, 1901, in Marysville. She and first husband, Thomas, owned and operated Tatman's Bakery in the late 1920s on Bird Street in Oroville. They sold the store in 1953. She was a past president of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Ophir Parlor 190, and a member of these Oroville organizations: Past Presidents Association of the Native Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary No. 95, California Republican Women's Committee and the Monday Club. During the 1950s and 1960s, she was a volunteer worker at the Chinese Temple in Oroville.
"Survivors include her husband, Rudolf of Oroville; a son, Raymond Tatman of Mountain View; a brother, Paul Compton of Marysville; a sister, Claire Johnson of Chico; and one grandson. Private interment was in Chico Cemetery.
"Contributions may be made to the Butte County Pioneer Memorial Museum, in care of P. O. Box 1743, Oroville, 95965."
