obit: Henry R. Arnold, 61, Passes Away
Henry R. Arnold, 61, passed away last Monday morning at St. Lawrence Hospital, Lansing where he had been taken late Sunday afternoon; he had been ill for the past week with a severe heart ailment. Mr. Arnold was born in Locke Township on August 7, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Arnold. Practically all of his life was spent in this vicinity, he with his family having resided in the village of Perry for many years. He was married to Miss Edith Howe, who survives him.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 P.M. E.W.T. from the LaRowe Funeral Home; Rev. C.F. Oliver will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery:
Surviving besides the widow are a son, Clyde, of Perry, and a daughter, Mary, who lived with her parents; two sisters, Mrs Goldie Herbert and Mrs Julia Locke of Perry, the step-mother, Mrs. Barbara Arnold, and two grandchildren.
Henry was a friendly personality, always cheerful and liked to joke with his many fiends on the current topics of the day. Most of the gardens around town were plowed each year by Henry. A few years ago he was salesman for an automobile agency and he did one of the largest businesses in that line of any firm here for a year or two. He was quite a clever dealer, and also used to buy and (blurred) established quite a market at one time. Henry has many friends who regret his sudden passing, and we all keenly sympathize with the bereaved wife and family in their hours of sorrow. He was the son of the late Elmer N. Arnold and he had a brother, Blen, who was killed in World War 1.
