obit: E.N. Arnold, 77, Passed Away at His Home In Perry
Elmer N. Arnold, former businessman and prominent local citizen, passed away at his home here last Wednesday evening, following a serious illness of several months duration.
Mr. Arnold was born in Livingston County, July 13, 1860, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arnold. He became a resident of Perry over 30 years ago. He married Mrs. Barbara Cochran seven years ago.
He has always been a Republican and very active in local politics; for a number of years he has served as constable for Perry Township and at one time was a deputy sheriff. For along time he has been engaged in the real estate and insurance business.
Mr. Arnold was a member of the I.O.O.F. He was a public spirited citizen and was always interested in those things which he believed to be for the best interests of the community in which he lived.
Funeral services were conducted from the home at 1:30 P.M. and from the Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 P.M. last Saturday afternoon. The clergymen officiating were the Rev. M.FPouley of Flint and the Rev. M.P. Karr of Laingsburg. Interment followed at Roselawn Cemetery. The pall bearers were H. Peck, W. Hough, O. Wallace, E. Price, C.M. Spalding and C. Cole.
Surviving are the widow; a son Henry, and two daughters, Mrs. Lyle Herbert and Mrs. John Locke; four brothers, Otto and George Arnold of Gregory, Chales Arnold of Perry and John Arnold of Williamston; and three sisters, Mrs Mary Holmes of Perry, Mrs. Iva Lounsbury of Livingston County and Mrs. Andrew Tuttle of Lansing.
A son, Glenn Arnold gave his life during action the the World War."
