Fred Herman Hoelscher, 72, of Plymouth, a retired farmer, died Tuesday evening, June 25, 1962 at McDonough District Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 38 days.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Plymouth Methodist Church. The Rev. Harry Bickerton officiated and burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens west of Macomb, IL

He was born Sept. 5, 1890 at Brooklyn, IL, a son of William and Melissa King Hoelscher. He was married in Rushville to the former Mary Maud Leas on April 22, 1915. She died in 1960. Mr. Hoelscher was a prominent farmer in the Brooklyn, Plymouth, and Augusta communities before his retirement. He and his wife moved to Plymouth in 1946 and both were members of the Plymouth Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Walter and Fred Jr. of Plymouth; two sisters, Miss Viola Hoelscher, and Mrs. Mell Tribbett of Macomb; two brothers, Florian and Harlen of Macomb; three grandchildren, Walter Gerald, Connie and Freddy L. Hoelscher, and one great-granddaughter, Sandra Marie Hoelscher, all of Plymouth.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his wife; his twin brother, Edward Sherman Hoelscher and brothers Hansel and Mansel; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Jones and Mrs. Pansy Ayers.

He was my paternal grandpa.
