Jacob was the son of Robert Addis and Julia Jennis, both from Ireland. Brother of Benjamin Franklin Addis. He married Amanda Jane Beal, the daughter of William Beal from Tennessee and Susanna Neet from Canada. They married 02 Sept 1880 in Confidence and had the following children:
