She was born to Alfred Ray and Emma Alida Bates Ellison on November 19, 1929 in American Fork, Utah. She grew up in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High School in 1948. She served a mission to the Northwestern States in 1950. She married Clifford E. Jones on October 27, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of four children.
She lived in Price where she was active in the community. Joan sang with a double trio and played the violin on many occasions. Joan enjoyed serving with her sweetheart Cliff in the Family Church History Mission. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings. She enjoyed serving in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples. She loved her family and cherished family dinners and barbecues.
Survived by her husband Cliff, sons; Allen (Lynette) Jones, Lehi, Kent (Gina) Jones, American Fork, Mark (Ruth) Jones, Kaysville, daughter; Annette (Bill) Gibson, Price, 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dry Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 700 South 465 West, Lehi. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main Street, Lehi, Utah and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Monday.
Interment: Lehi City Cemetery.
