Howard Smith Sanders, age 79, died Friday, January 24 at McGuires Hospital in Richmond, Va. He was a retired waterman and merchant. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lola Sanders; four daughters; Mrs. Gladys S. Brown of Warsaw, Mrs. Josephine S. Franklin, Haynesville, Va., Mrs. Joyce S. Self, Neenah, Va., Mrs. Lucy S. Baughan of Warsaw, Va. He has four sons; Norris G., A. Talmadge, Kermit S. and Jimmy H. Sanders, all of Warsaw; one sister, Mrs. Bland S. Brown, of Warsaw; four brothers; Sam Sanders Hall of Leedstown, Va, Judson A. Sanders, Freddy Sanders, Berry M. Sanders, all of Warsaw, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Cobham Park Baptist Church, Monday, January 27, with interment in church cemetery with military rites.

The Rev. John C. Penny officiated.

Pallbearers were; Gatewood Sanders, Leslie Sanders, Garrison Sanders, Woodrow Sanders, Wain Right Sanders,
Webster Sanders, Bernard Davis, Jr., and Edward Daiger.
