Company A, 12th New York Cavalry.

Note: Name is spelled "Innman" on headstone.

Son of Amasa & Catherine (Baldwin) Inman. Married Mary Farnham on 27 Dec 1848 in Marcellus, Onondaga Co, NY. Enlisted 18 Aug 1862 at Oswego, Oswego Co., NY, at age 36. Mustered in 19 Nov 1862. Reduced to ranks [does this mean he was reduced in rank? Reduced "to" ranks suggests that he was an officer and was then reduced to an enlisted rank; that's quite unlikely] 20 May `63. Died 23 at Camp Palmer, New Bern, NC. He also has a Find A Grave memorial [because there is a cenotaph there?] in Lewis Cemetery, Granby, Oswego Co, NY.

=======

Date of death needs to be rechecked. Fallen Graver Bev, in her comment attached to flower, said he died 23 June 1864. F.A.G. memorial originally created by US Veterans Affairs Office, listed the date as 23 July 1864.

Middle initial needs to be checked. Fallen Graver Bev said his middle initial was F. Tombstone in New York State says it was A.
