Corinth----Samual C. Downs, 86, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 12, 1919, to Obie Lee Downs and Rosie Doss Downs. He was a retired unemployment insurance representative for the Mississippi Employment Commission. He was a member of Farmington Baptist Church since April 1964 and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Framington Baptist Church with the Rev, Tim Nall and the Rev. Warren Jones officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Corinthian Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Le Wade Strickland of Mayfield Ky.; a granddaugther, Pam Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Danon Bailey and Casey Bailey; a niece Rhonda Ballard; two nephews, Stanly Downs and Randy Downs; special friends, Vera and Tony Maroit.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Annie Killough Downs; his parents; a daugther, Catherin Strickland; a great-granddaugther, Marlene Childers; two brothers, Ed Downs and T.L. Downs; two sisters Enda Downs Young and Lucille Downs Guin.

Pallbearers will be Elbert Holland, Tony Maroit, Cutris Whittemore, Vancey Knighton, Cody Potts and Arnold Pittman.

Honorara pallbearers will be the remaining deacons, Albert Strickland, Randy Mask and Wayne Shults.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
