Mrs. Margretha Bock, wife of Mr. Gustav Bock, died in Owensville November 23, 1911 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 2 days. She was born in the village of Blumenthal, Amt Fessesack, Hanover and came to this country with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Egbert Gerken in the spring of 1855, landing in Herman from whence they moved to Woollam. Her father died in a few days after they arrived from their long journey. Her mother was then left with a lot of children in a strange land, but they got along very well. On the 21st day of June 1858 she was married to Mr. Gustav Bock. Out of this union eleven children were born. Two of them preceded her in death. Those who are surviving her are: Fred of Red Bird, Henry and Herman of Syracuse, Neb., Minnie Buschmann of Owensville, Mrs. Katie Anderson of Webster Grove, Mrs. Meta [King]Koenig of Castle Okla., Mrs. Omar [Mary]Paap and Mrs. Elmer [Augusta] Paap of Berlin Nebraska, and Mrs. F.W. Dieckgraeff [Maggie]of St. Louis. All of these children were present at the funeral, which was conducted by Rev. C.J. Spreckelmeyer assisted by Rev. A. Gestch, after which all that was mortal of Mrs. Margaret Bock was laid to rest in the Owensville cemetery. (Bland Newspaper Obituary)
