Ruby E. Lackey, 75 died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008 at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.

One of 12 children, she was born Oct. 8, 1933 in Charlie, Texas to Stanley and Bertha Hair. In 1950, she married Bob Lackey and to this union was born eight children.

A long-time resident of Thermopolis, she worked at various restaurants including Perry's Café and the Manhattan Café. For 22 years, she was employed by the hospital, first as a cook then as a dietician.

Ruby was a recent resident of the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center.

She enjoyed playing bingo and going to lunch with her daughter Sherry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob in 2000, her daughter Keri in 2006 and her sister Fonda.

Ruby is survived by her children Sherry Tervo, Dan and Terry Lackey of Thermopolis, Marty and Bryan of Gillette, Ted of LaPine, Oregon and Brenda Burgess of Casper; siblings Glen, Betty Beatrice, Lonnie Sue, Eugene, Linda, Barbara, Douglas and Billy all of Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law Clair of Amarillo, Texas.

Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.
