Nettie Shaw was born February 27, 1893, in Waterloo, DeKalb County, Indiana, the daughter of John and Dora (Nodine) Shaw. She had two younger sisters, Pearl and Mable. She married George W. Davis September 2, 1911. He passed away September 29, 1920. On August 17, 1927, Nettie married Edward J. Gilpin. Nettie's step-daughter, Mae (Gilpin) Bryson told members of her family that Nettie was a very sweet lady.
