Professor R.L. Abbott, age 62, died at his home in Waco, Saturday. Funeral services were Sunday at St. John's Methodist church with burial at Oakwood. He was born in Mississippi, where he was educated. In 1893, he moved to McLennan County, TX and was identified with educational work until 4 years ago when he became ill. He taught school in several towns in McLennan county and was superintendent of the McGregor schools for several years and was County Superintendent for 14 years. Mr. Abbott was a member of J.H. Gurley Masonic Lodge.
Survivors: wife; son James P. Abbott of Los Angeles; daughter, Mrs. Paul Christman of Roswell, NM; his mother, Mrs. Mary Abbott, of Ardmore, OK; 2 grandsons; 3 brothers and 6 sisters
