Barbara J. Nemechek, 71, formerly of Byron and Hayfield, died Saturday (Dec. 27, 2008) at her home in Dayton, Iowa.
Barbara Jean Rollins was born Sept. 27, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City (Iowa) in 1955. On June 4, 1955, she married Richard Nemechek in Stratford, Iowa. She and her husband enjoyed researching genealogy and organized an annual family reunion where they presented a display for everyone to enjoy.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Tim (Dawn) of Byron, Dan (Shari) of Farnhamville, Iowa, and David (Pam) of Otho, Iowa; three daughters, Terri (Brian) Hagge and Holly Zander, both of Dayton, and Darla Nemechek of Boone, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Greufe and Vona Scott of Webster City; and two brothers, Donald Rollins Jr. and Terry Rollins of Webster City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Dorothy (Kelly) Rollins; a sister, Beverly Sylvester; a brother, Bruce Rollins; and two grandsons, Ryan Nemechek and Paul Hagge.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. There will be a Prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Burial of the ashes will be at a later date in McGuire Bend Cemetery, rural Dayton.
