Nora Lee Weekes, nee Sterling, 74, St. Clair, Mo., passed away from Alzheimers, Wednesday, July 13, 2005.

Mrs. Weeks was born March 18, 1931 in St. Clair, the daughter of John Sterling and wife Nellie Keen.

Nora was born prematurely. There was a snow storm, and the doctor couldn't get there for 3 days. When he did arrive, he said he wasn't going to issue a birth certificate because the baby would die. Nora's uncle Sarch Keen measured her with a 2pk of Ivory Soap. She was 2 bars long.He gave her the nickname "Soap". They put baby oil on her skin and swaddled her in towels for warmth. She was fed mothers milk every hour with an eye dropper. She was small but thrived.

As a young woman, she was united in marriage to Milford Roehrs, and blessed to have two daughters, Sharon and Barbara. On January 4, 1968, she was united in marriage to Ronald Edward Weekes.

Mrs. Weekes was a Christian raised in the Baptist faith.
During her working years, she was employed as a nurse assistant at Sullivan, Mo. Community Hospital (now Mo. Baptist). Later she worked as a shoe heeler at Meramec Industries, Sullivan, retiring after 10 years of employment.

Mrs. Weekes was preceded in death by her parents, her step father John Busse, one half brother, Louis Busse, three step brothers, Herman, Johnnie, Carl Busse, one sister Dorothy Fisher, one half sister, Katherine Engelken, three step sisters, Gertrude Cox, Lena Payne, Eileen "Ikie" Gauer,

She is survived ny her husband, Ronnie Weekes, of St. Clair, two daughters, Sharon Fisher and husband Charles, St Clair, and Barbara Mest and husband Jim, Kissimmee, Fla., three grandchildren, Steven Fisher, St Louis, Lynda Dalton and husband Dr. Mar, Sullivan, and Tina Baker and husband Ken, Fla., two sisters, Lucille Mullis and husband Fred, St Clair, Estella Wideman, St Clair, 3 great grandchildren..other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sat July 16, at Russell Funeral Home, St Clair. Pastor Edward Mast officiated. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St Clair.
