She was born to Marius and Dorothy Andersen, and raised in Cozad, Neb. She attended Hastings College in Nebraska, where she studied her passions, music and art.
She met Hal Schafer in 1957. They married and moved to Broomfield. They lived since that time and raised four children in Broomfield.
She taught second grade in Broomfield schools, and gave piano instruction to countless children over the years. She was proud to have inspired the love of music in so many students, her family said.
She was an active member of many organizations in Broomfield, including the Music Teachers Association, the Art Guild, book club and the Broomfield PEO Sistergood Chapter. She was a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, where she was a choir member and organist for more than 50 years, and member of Daughters of the King.
She was adored by all who knew her and were touched by her kind and gentle heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents,who immigrated from Denmark.
