As a loyal member of Beulah Baptist Church, he taught the Men's Bible Class, served as song leader, Deacon and Clerk in 1911 at BA , Richmond College, Richmond, VA. He married Marion Ethel Moore, daughter of William Robert "Willie" Moore and Mildred Jane "Minnie" Carter, on 29 Apr 1920 at Six Mile Bridge, Campbell Co., VA. He died on 27 Dec 1965 at Gladys, Campbell Co., VA, at age 80. He was buried on 29 Dec 1965 at Beulah Baptist Cemetery, Brookneal, VA.
