Husband of Abigail and father of Philip, of Revolutionary War Fame. He, with four members of his family (Abigail, his wife: Leah and Esther, their daughters; and Simon, a brother) were all among the original Jewish Settlers in Savannah. As early as 1736 Minis had become a merchant-shipper, one of the first settlers in Georgia to engage in commerce. Trading under the name of Abraham Minis & Company and later Minis & Solomons. During Oglethorpe's two attacks on Spanish Florida (1740-43) Minis operated boats shuttling supplies between Savannah and Oglethorpe's base at Fort Frederica. He later operated and extensive ranching operation with the registered brand "A.M."
