Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Bell Simmons, 78, of Honey Grove will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 1999, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Chapel in Honey Grove. Rev. Russ Noland, pastor of McKenzie United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove.
Mrs. Simmmons passed away February 23, 1999, at McCuistion Medical Center.
Mrs. Simmons was born July 22, 1920, in Rock Hill Community to Welford Leonard Lair and Myrtle Brimmage Lair.
She married George Mitchell Simmons on October 15, 1939, in Honey Grove. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1989.
Mrs. Simmons was a retired secretary for Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Honey Grove.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Wallace Nichols of McKinney, Barbara and S. E. Sadler of Windom; one grandson; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Myrtle Wilson of Paris; two nephews; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a granson, Ross Nichols and a sister, Irene Holley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Jones, W. T. Blair, Frank Boehler, Jr., Jimmy Doyle, Jim Siebenthal and Billy Burnsed.
