Impressive funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Elsinore Ward Chapel, which was filled to capacity with sympathizing relatives and friends. Woodruff W. Sylvester, of the ward bishopric officiated. The speakers were C.A. White of Monore and Bishop Leon T. Madsen, who paid a fitting tribute to the splendid character and exempliary life of the deceased. Appropriate musical numbers, requested by the family were two selections by a quartet composed of Mrs. Jetta Marquardson, Mrs. Minnie Sylvester, H.J. Kotter and Clynn Thurston; Mina and Thelma Bell sang a duet; Mr. Thurston sang a solo, and Mrs Marquardson and Mrs. Sylvester rendered a vocal duet. The opening prayer was by Patriarch J.I. Jensen, and the closing prayer by Patriarch H.H. Bell of Glenwood.
Burial was in the Elsinore Cemetery, where Frank D. Gunn dedicated the grave.
J. Alvin Bell was born October 2, 1878 at Glenwood, a son of Thomas and Euphema Lindquist Bell. When but two years of age he moved with his parents to Elsinore, where he had since resided. He performed a mission for the LDS Church in 1904-1905 in the northwestern states. On April 7, 1907, he married Laura Rappleye in the Salt Lake Temple. From this union three childred were born. His wife died several years ago. On June 20, 1917 he married Miss Ermina Smith in the Salt Lake Temple, and two daughters were born to them.
He is survived by his widow and the following children: Frank Bell, Mrs. Alice Steele and Mrs. Katherine Cook of Provo. Elva Jean Bell and Marilyn Bell of Elsinore. Brothers and sisters surviving are H.H. Bell and F.H. Bell of Glenwood; Bernard Bell of Roosevelt, Mrs. Alice Miles of St. George, Charles Bell, Mrs. Matilda Ross, Mrs. Mahia' Sylvester and Mrs. Emily Isaacson of Elsinore.
