Born Aug. 7, 1931, in Stinesville, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Ellett) Baker.
She married Eugene Cowell in 1951, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1980.
She was a self-employed caregiver for the elderly.
She was a member of the Morgan Street Church of Christ in Martinsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Gilbrech of Martinsville and Denise Kent of Bedford; two sons, Doug Cowell of Indianapolis and Dennis Cowell of Columbus, Ind.; a brother, Bud Baker of Elkhart; a sister, Martha Moscrip of Spencer; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Stout; and three sisters, Mary Fisher, Betty Beckman and Sharon Minnick.
The service will be 7 p.m. today at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. The Rev. Pat Davis will officiate.
Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
