Services for William "Bill" Eugene Amos of Brookhaven are 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 24, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Hazlehurst with burial in Hazlehurst Cemetery. Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at First Baptist Church Chapel.
Mr. Amos, 72, died Jan. 20, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on Jan. 31, 1930, to Paschal "Shoat" and Mittie Lee Amos. He was a resident of Hazlehurst for 70 years.
He was a retired self-employed plumber. He was a member of of First Baptist Church and a former member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He served 11 years in the Army.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers, Tom Amos, Charles "Hooker" Amos, Buster Amos, and Frank "Tiny" Amos.
Survivors are his wife, Ernestine J. Amos; his son and his wife, Billy and Judy Amos of Brookhaven; his daughter and her husband, Elisabeth and Russell Mann of Calhoun, Ga.; his sister, Blanche Wood of Hazlehurst; his brother, Robert "Pete" Amos of Thomasville, Al.; and his grandchildren, Jarod Amos, Lori Amos, Julie Kirkland and Russell Mann Jr.
