Mrs. Nona M. Chambers, 81, of Middletown, passed away Monday, March 5, 2001, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born on Jan. 25, 1920, in Lee County, Ky., and lived here for 51 years. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Chambers was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her husband and children. Her strength of character and commitment to her family was never ending and extended to anyone who came in contact with her. She loved attending church, gardening and cooking for anyone who stepped through the door. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamp Chambers in January, 1993; a son, Virgil Clayton Chambers in 1945; a daughter, Ora Chambers in 1943; two sons-in-law, Dale Tutt and Mark E McGlothen; and three sisters and one brother. She leaves two sons, Guy H. Chambers, and his wife, Mary, and Billy Chambers, all of Middletown; four daughters, Esther Tutt of Zoe, Ky., Gwendolyn McGlothen of Middletown, Rena Dalrymple, and husband, Sam, of Franklin, and Nora Manning, and husband, Roger, of Middletown; a brother, Charles Shackelford of Middletown; a sister, Betty Moore, and husband, Gene, of Union City, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Armel Taulbee officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
