Roanoke - Mary R. Oltman, 94, a resident of Apostolic Christian Nursing Home, Roanoke, formerly of rural Benson, where she resided for 72 years, died at 8:46 a.m. Nov. 24, 2003, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at St Paul Lutheran Church, Benson, The Rev David Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour before the service today at the church. Burial will be in Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson. Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church or Benson Ambulance. Mrs Oltman was born March 10, 1909, in rural Roanoke to John A. and Anna (Gastman) Woltzen. They preceded her in death. She married Clifford Oltman on Aug. 27, 1931, in Benson. He died April 1, 1979, in Florida. Surviving are two sons, Robert (Betty) Oltman and Edward (Mary Ann) Oltman, both of Roanoke; one daughter, Jean (Dick) Burmood, Benson; one sister, Lena deFreese, Roanoke; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marion Oltman; three brothers; two sisters; and two great-grandchildren. Mary was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Benson and Mission Aide.
