5th of 7 known children of Camille Aristide Fastier (1820-1868) born France & Emma Mowbray (1822-) who married 4 June 1843 in Spitafields, Christ Church, Stepney, London

Hortense and her sister Camilla Elizabeth Wilhelmina Brady (1844-1925) lived together in McLean Street. They are buried together.

Their brother, Walter Aristide Fastier r (1846–1903), was an early 19th century artist in NZ, married Annie Ballantyne in Dunedin in 1873. They had 13 known children, one they named Mary Hortense Fastier.

Otago Witness, 23 Jan 1890 .. news of an event in the county of TAIERI, near Dunedin in the South Island. Hortense would have been about 36 when it was written https://tinyurl.com/34jbx7zp .. The Taieri county's exhibits occupy one bay on the west side of the Otago court. As might have been expected the principal exhibits are agricultural .. Miss Hortense Fastier, of Burnside, Otago, a patchwork table cover, containing 15,582 pieces

. Miss Hortense Eliza Fastier passed away at the residence of , Mrs Vickers, Ormond Street, last week at the age of 76 years. Deceased had lived here for about 30 years.
Note Mrs Mabel Vickers was the wife of Joseph Aristide Vickers, obviously related
