In August they moved to Henderson County, Illinois to be near their Uncle William Hopkins. In 1879, Joseph came to Buffalo County, Nebraska and John stayed at his Uncle William's home. This is where he met Martha Peck, who was a neighbor. After the death of his Uncle Joseph Pritchard in 1885, John and Phineas Peck came to Nebraska in September of 1885 to fit up a sod house, chicken house, dug a well, and planted trees in Section 32 of Scott Township, Sherman County, Nebraska. John and Martha were married February 11, 1886 and came immediately to Nebraska.
They were the parents of Joseph, Hattie Elizabeth Moxley, Arthur, Rollin, Mary Delda Souser, Robert, and Cecil.
After their divorce, Martha remained on the farm and John moved to Omaha where he died.
John was preceded in death by his granddaughter Carolyn Faye Pritchard, mother Elizabeth, Uncle Joseph, and his grandparents.
(In recent years, John's birth certificate was obtained from Wales which proved his true birth date.)
