Mabel May (Blaha) Carpenter, age 92, died May 3, 2014. She was born January 25, 1922 at the farm on SW 29th St. and Morgan Rd., where the Mustang Valley grade school is, and was part of their farm in Yukon, OK to Frank E. and Helen C. (Blecha) Blaha. She graduated from Mustang High School in 1940 as salutatorian of her graduating class. She worked at Tinker AFB in the statistical office from October 1942 through October 1945 all during World War II. She then worked one season at the Oklahoma License Bureau in Oklahoma City. She married Vergil L. Carpenter. Then later Mabel worked at Yukon National Bank, Altec Lansing and as a bookkeeper for All-American Bank in Mustang where she retired after 20 1/2 years of service. Mabel was a member of the Oasis Class at The Bridge Assembly of God church and also a member of the ZCBJ Fraternal Organization for 50 plus years. Mabel was also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. She loved to dance polka and the waltz with the #1 OK Polka Club. She also enjoyed writing poetry, but her true enjoyment was that of being a mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Glen and sisters; Emma, Adelaide, Millie and Lydia. Mabel is survived by her two sons; Bill and wife Stella of Mustang and Gary and wife Mary of Ft. Worth, TX, grandchildren Shane, James, Serena, Chase, Lee and Ben, eight great grandchildren Brittany, Dylan, Karlie Jo, Kinlie Mae, Austin, Keegan and Kaden, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at The Bridge Assembly of God, Mustang, OK with burial to follow at the Czech National Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
