Forest Weber Kennington died April 17, 2000 in Afton of congestive heart failure.
The funeral will be held Thursday in the Afton Tabernacle at 12 noon with a viewing at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at the Afton City Cemetery.
Forrest was born Aug 10, 1923 to George Seward and Martha Weber Kennington. He was the fourth son of eighth child in a family which grew to include 13 children; 11 living to adulthood.
He grew up in Afton living in a red brick house just north of Swift Creek and at the Kennington place before Graveyard Canyon. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and exploring the mountains surrounding the valley.
After the death of his father, Forrest left school and worked in LaBarge logging and in Evanston on the railroad. He also worked for a lumber yard in Phoenix. The welfare of the family was always important to him.
Forrest enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II and served in the Marshall Islands, the Philippines, on Okinawa and with the occupational forces in Japan.
He took up homesteading land in Tukelade CA in 1946. He participated in the LDS Branch and met his future wife Dorothy Eckerwell there while she served a mission.
They were married Oct 10, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They began their married life on a farm on the Bedford Bench near the mouth of Lost Creek. Forrest served in the bishopric there and was an active scouter.
Om 1960 the family moved to Kaysville, UT where Forrest worked in the building industry as a contraction worker and sheet metal worker.
The family returned to Bedford in 1968 and continued to work until 1971 when the moved to Afton and Forrest worked as a carpenter on the junior high under construction.
The next 15 years where spent working in southern Wyoming on construction during the week and returning to his family on the weekend.
Forrest's retirement was devoted to family, Star Valley history, rock work, exploring the desert and reading.
Forrest is survived by his wife Dorothy and children; Kathaleen Hamblin, Ann Macbeth, Garth Kennington, Lynette Cox, Donna Beattty, David Kennington, Lynn Kennington; 20 grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brother and sisters and one grandchild.
