Clyde Eugene Bennett, 67, died Thursday at John Muir Medical Center, after an auto accident. Born in Houston, Texas, Mr. Bennett was a resident of Vallejo.
He worked on Mare Island for 32 years as an HB&A Test Foreman before retiring in June, 1989. He retired from Napa Unified School District from the maintenance department after seven years and was a teacher at Solano Community College for 27 years as a refrigeration and air conditioning instructor. He was also a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Bennett was a motorcycle aficionado and liked to repair old cars, but he loved playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Angela Bennett of Vallejo; daughters Dana (Richard) Alsip of Vallejo and Wendi (Kevin) Zimmerman of Suisun; son Gene Bennett of Philadelphia, Pa.; sister Dorothy Grillett of Texas; brother Alfred E. Bennett of Texas; and five grandchildren.
Inurnment was private. Affairs were handled by Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.
His obituary was published in the Times-Herald on Sept. 17, 2004.
