"Don Briggs 1933-2005
Don Briggs, of Willcox, died Dec. 22, 2005, in Tucson at the age of 72. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, on Feb. 26, 1933.
Don graduated from Texas Tech University in 1955 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for North America Rockwell on the space shuttle Endeavor and for General Dynamics where he worked on the B1 bomber. Don was also proud to be a farmer, an avid sports fan, enjoyed golf and fishing and lived for his family. He attended First Baptist Church in Willcox, and was currently the secretary for Willcox Masonic Lodge #10 F. & A.M.
On Sept. 8, 1991, in Willcox, he married G. Marie Deardorff.
Survivors include his wife G. Marie of Willcox, his son Keith (Lori) of Willcox; and daughters Tonya (Gabriel) Ayala of Willcox, Carolyn Zimmerman of Columbus, Ohio, and Julie (Chris) Chung of Chino Hills, Calif.; along with his grandchildren Camryn, Bill, Tina, Chris, Gabriel, Brandon and Dakota, and his great-grandchildren Tristen, Presten, Daylen, Tyler and David. Also surviving is his mother, A. Marie Briggs, of Willcox; and his brother Joe (Jean) of Willcox.
Preceding him in death was his first wife Noretta, his father Hinds Hugh Briggs, and two brothers, Ronnie and Brian.
Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Westlawn Chapel. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Willcox. Contributions may be made to the Charles Wm. Leighton Jr. Hospice, P.O. Box 115, Willcox, Ariz., 85644.
