Research and memorial by Karl Klean.

Thank you so much for this memorial and for transferring over to us to maintain, Karl! They would have been lost forever without you, to our family!

<><><>

His family was born in Sand, Baden, Germany:

Parents--
Ludwick Ludwig Steurer, 1840–?
Catherine Kallner Kollner Koellner, 1841–?
(There are no US records for this couple. It appears that they never came to America, only their son and daughter did; parents names found on son's Death Certificate.)

Sibling--
Barbara Bertha Babette Steurer Hetzel # 101347421, 1867–1940

Spouse & 3 Children--

Katharina Katherine "Katie" Unknown Maiden Name, # 119062831, 1861–1958
(Need help with her maiden name; her parents names, dates and their cemetery!)

Three children:
Elsie Steuer Fallon, # 119062865, 1893–1951
Emma Mina Steurer Hetzel, # 111988807, 1894–1974
Frederick "Fred" C. Steurer,# 119412431, 1895-1969

Our Frederick Steurer Death Certificate was researched by--

James Williams who is not related to our family but he did this look up for our family. This ties in a brother and sister and confirms their parents! All of these years we never had this link! Thank you for your generosity of spirit, James! This record states that he owned his own shop in St. Louis. He was a "cabinet-maker". The family of four lived at 5233 Elizabeth Street.

"Steurer, Frederick. St. Louis Post-Dispatch 1916 Burial permit 8/31 p19. Plot: Section: H Lot: 73."

This cemetery was formerly called "New Pickens Cemetery". It is now called "Gatewood Garden Cemetery".

<><><>

We believe that his wife Katherine, is NOT buried next to him but rather the family chose to place her at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan. "Rosie of Royal Oak" a Findagrave contibutor made her a memorial after she discovered cemetery records with her name and her death date on them-#119578212.

We are choosing to leave Frederick Steurer with two wife memorials because 1.) her name and birth year are on his headstone, so the family originally meant to bury her here. 2.) After the family left St. Louis and moved to Michigan they must have decided to keep mom close by.

Thank you all for helping to fill in the family mystery.
