Mrs. McCoy, 79, died in Lake Alfred , Fla. Monday morning, Nov. 17, 2008. A native of Warsaw , Ga. , she was a member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Johnny L. King and the late Marinda M. Middleton King.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by her sons: James M. McCoy of Villa Rica, Ga. and Ernie C. McCoy of Alburndale, Fla. ; a brother: Earl King of Penney Farms, Fla. ; her sisters: Mary R. Phillips of Washington, Ga. and Velma Hadwin of Yemassee , S.C. ; grandchildren: Shelly Foley and Ammie Elmore; and two great-grandchildren.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Myrtle Lee McCoy were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 in the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Elmore, Mrs. McCoy's grandson-in-law, officiated the services. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with Rev. Phil Streetman officiating.The service began with the playing of two prerecorded songs, "You Raise Me Up" and " Valley Of The Shadow ." During the service, a prerecorded version of "Mom I.O.U" was played and " Sweet Beulah Land " was played at the conclusion of the services.Serving as pallbearers were: Scott Smith, Kip Terry, Glenn Terry, Vance Phillips, Otto Herrera and Ken Foley.A permanent online guestbook is available at Hughes and Wright Funeral Home of Cordele was entrusted with these arrangements.
